From gratitude journals to nonfiction to the children's books I'm working toward — everything starts with the same question: what actually helps?
Crying + Trying: A Gratitude Journal for Anyone Figuring Life Out After Loss, Change, or Total Chaos — A daily practice for when life falls apart and “just be grateful” isn’t cutting it.
I'm currently developing a traditionally published nonfiction book that dismantles the spiritual platitudes we’re handed in times of crisis that are supposed to help us process pain. You know, the ones like: "Everything happens for a reason," or "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger," and "time heals all wounds."
Nobody asked if those rules actually worked.
I'm writing the book that pulls those platitudes apart — where they come from, why we keep repeating them, and what they actually cost the people who are handed them in their worst moments.
Each chapter takes a familiar "rule," rewrites it, and offers real tools to honor emotions without reshaping them to fit a more acceptable story.
I'm currently seeking representation. If you're an agent or editor and you've landed here, I'd love to hear from you.
I started writing children's books years before my life took an unexpected turn. I recently dusted off those manuscripts, over a decade later, and decided they deserved a chance. I now have two picture books and a board book looking for the right agent.
Mrs. Madigan is Mad Again — An exceptionally loud kid. A fed-up neighbor. And a picture book about winning someone over without asking either of you to be someone you're not.
Day Breaks, Baby Wakes — A rhythmic board book following one full day of a mama and baby — from peek-a-boo at sunrise to sweet dreams at bedtime. Filled with love, play, and routine.
All By Myself — A picture book about a child's proudly independent school day — until the very last page, when independence makes room for something better.
If you're a children's book agent and something here catches your attention, let's talk.
New essays, book news, and the occasional thing I learned the hard way.
You're In!
When I have news worth sharing, you'll be the first to hear about it.
